Donating Artwork
Donations of artwork require a formal application process that brings the proposal before the Museum Advisory Committee. As the committee meets twice a year, please note that the application process may take up to six months.
Steps for submitting a donation proposal:
-
Gather general information about the artwork: artist, title, medium, and dimensions.
-
Gather information about the work's provenance: How did you come to own it? Where or whom did you receive it from? Who owned it before you? When did you acquire it?
-
Take photos of the work, including the front, back, and bottom of three-dimensional artworks. Please include any details of damage, signatures, and dates.
-
Submit a formal proposal to the museum. Please click here to fill out the online form. If you have any questions, please contact the Collections Manager, Mike Schuetz.
-
Potential donors will be notified whether the committee has accepted their proposal. Accepted donations valued over $5,000 must be formally appraised by a third party, certified appraiser per the IRS tax code.
