Donating Artwork

Donations of artwork require a formal application process that brings the proposal before the Museum Advisory Committee. As the committee meets twice a year, please note that the application process may take up to six months.

Steps for submitting a donation proposal:

  1. Gather general information about the artwork: artist, title, medium, and dimensions.

  2. Gather information about the work's provenance: How did you come to own it? Where or whom did you receive it from? Who owned it before you? When did you acquire it?

  3. Take photos of the work, including the front, back, and bottom of three-dimensional artworks. Please include any details of damage, signatures, and dates.

  4. Submit a formal proposal to the museum. Please click here to fill out the online form. If you have any questions, please contact the Collections Manager, Mike Schuetz.

  5. Potential donors will be notified whether the committee has accepted their proposal. Accepted donations valued over $5,000 must be formally appraised by a third party, certified appraiser per the IRS tax code.
