For this course, students observed and reflected upon artistic representations of Jesus within the Martin’s permanent collection. Observing the different visual portraits of Jesus serves as an experiential learning opportunity to prime students for our conversation of the different literary portraits of Jesus in the Gospels.
Students spend time with four different images, rotating through with small cohorts. Students engage in discussion surrounding the works, comparing the different representations of Jesus. Then, as a larger group, they report and elaborate on their findings with the other cohorts.
