Curriculum and Teaching in Informal Environments | Instructor: Sandi Cooper
As part of Baylor’s MSEd program, two graduate students in Informal Education completed a 25-hour practicum at the Martin Museum. Their experience was anchored by two core assignments:
- Curriculum Mapping with the Permanent Collection: Students selected artworks from the museum’s Permanent Collection Viewing Files and created a resource guide entered on a past exhibition, The Age of Mechanical Reproduction, mapping each artwork to relevant Baylor courses and aligning selections with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for high school art education. This document will serve as an outreach tool for both university faculty and local high school educators.
- Engagement Evaluation through Tour Observation: Each student attended two museum tours and submitted observational feedback, highlighting moments of strong engagement and suggesting ways to improve interactive experiences for student audiences.
