Shawn Saumell | Paradise Still Lost
Exhibition Dates: January 12th - April 11th, 2027
Paradise Still Lost is an ongoing body of work examining the evolving relationship between humanity, the natural world, and the systems we construct to inhabit and transform it.
The title Paradise Still Lost carries several meanings. “Lost” refers to the continuing transformation of natural environments through human intervention, while “still” signals that this condition is ongoing rather than confined to some distant historical moment.
The word also evokes the photographic still: a suspended, carefully constructed moment. Each image functions almost as a small-world model, bringing together fragments of lived geography that might otherwise remain separate or unnoticed.
